Lucha Libre (Spanish meaning “free fighting”) is a term used in Mexico, and other Spanish-speaking countries, for a form of professional wrestling. Mexican wrestling is characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, as well as “high-flying” combinations. Lucha Libre wrestlers are known as “luchadores” (singular luchador) (“fighter(s)”). They usually come from extended wrestling families who form their own stables.
Lucha Libre has transcended into the pop culture of “Mexicanisim.” The growing number of fanatics and followers world wide identify with the movement to “feel” the Mexican “spirit”.
The Pico Blvd Group’s creative lab team is currently conceiving a new property to share and preserve the “Mexicanisim” legacy of the “Lucha Libre”. PBG introduces: “Lucha-Equis Defenders of the Planet”!
The “Lucha-Equis” property is a collection of “luchadores” developed to promote good deeds and practices for mother earth. Known as the “Bad News Bears” of the wrestling world, this goofy, misfit, and sometimes misunderstood clan solves serious earth related problems and events sometimes by accident! They are cute, lovable and have a big heart!
