The Original Record Man has deep roots in the vibrant Los Angeles music scene, a city that has long been a hub for musical innovation and cultural fusion. Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, West Pico Boulevard was affectionately dubbed "Record Row," an epicenter of record labels, studios, and music retailers. This iconic stretch, not unlike today’s Record Row in Nashville, buzzed with the energy of artists, producers, and fans shaping the soundtrack of an era.

It was here, near the intersection of West Pico Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, that the Original Record Man logo first came to life as the emblem of a neighborhood record store. The shop wasn’t just a place to buy music—it was a cultural cornerstone, selling records, tapes, and an eclectic mix of items like phonograph needles, guitar strings, electronics, blenders, greeting cards, and more. Its music section was legendary, offering everything from Nat King Cole to Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, serving a diverse community united by a love of music.
The dancing, joyful Record Man became more than just a logo; it was a beacon for the music scene in Los Angeles, symbolizing the eclectic, electric spirit of the times. A bridge between cultures, genres, and generations, it embodied the heart and soul of music lovers in the city.
Today, Record Man Apparel takes this legacy and reimagines it for a new generation. The iconic Original Record Man is at the heart of our brand, grooving onto t-shirts and apparel with the same timeless cool and vibrant energy that defined its origins. Our designs channel the spirit of West Pico’s Record Row, blending vintage inspiration with bold creativity. Just like the original store that brought people together through music, our apparel is here to keep that rhythm alive, celebrating the golden eras of music in style.
